Frequently Asked Questions

How do I reach Kamalashila Institute with public transportation?
The way to reach us by public transportation can be found here: Link zu Anfahrt

Can I stay at Kamalashila Institute without attending a course?
Yes. You are more than welcome to stay here to do a retreat, relax, or work as a volunteer. Please make sure to reserve a room on time.

What facilities does Kamalashila Institute have?
In addition to the ongoing courses and seminars, we have a library, which mainly contains Buddhist literature, a Dharmashop, which sells Tibetan practice texts, books, and various objects used in Buddhist rituals, and a coffee shop called the Café Stupa, which serves coffee and cakes.

Do I have to bring my own bedding and towels when I stay overnight?
Bedding and towels are included in the price of the single and double rooms. In the share accommodation rooms, you have to bring your own bedding (including blankets) or sleeping bag and towels.

Can I bring my dog or cat with me?
Unfortunately pets cannot be brought to Kamalashila Institute. We thank you for your understanding on this point.

Does Kamalashila Institute offer meals?
Wholesome, vegetarian meals are offered to our guests during courses and seminars. The price for the breakfast buffet includes coffee and tea. Tea and hot water are available free of charge at all times, including during lunch and dinner. The Stupa Café is also open in the afternoons on weekends. Homemade cakes and hot drinks are offered for sale at very reasonable prices (not included in the 25 euros/day for meals).

If I have allergies or food intolerances, can I request special meals?
Please let us know at the time you book your room what you cannot eat. We’ll talk to our cooks and will try to accommodate you.

Does Kamalashila Institute offer child care?
Although children are very welcome at Kamalashila Institute, we are unable to offer child care. You are responsible for taking care of your children yourself. Experience has shown that the best solution is when both parents attend the seminar and take turns taking care of the children.

Can I bring my child to a puja?
Yes, children are very welcome. But since pujas usually last at least an hour, it’s a good idea to bring something along to occupy the child with.
